Most of us associate plump, full cheeks with youth, such as those of babies and kids. Collagen is the main contributing factor towards supple looking cheeks, and we were all born with lots of it. The presence of subcutaneous fat beneath the facial skin also helps to keep the face looking plump, rounded, and youthful.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunken cheeks can occur as part of the initial ageing process. As we age, there is gradual loss of subcutaneous fat around the mouth and eyes which causes our cheeks to appear like they are projecting inwards instead of outwards.
